In-depth Review [Nepal] - Gionee Elife S5.1
Announced in the September of 2014, the Gionee Elife S5.1 was officially released in Nepal on 16th of December, 2014. The smartphone is packed with stunning features with high specifications and has a value for price. From its day of international release in November till the second week of December, it held a record in the Guinness Book of World Records for being the world's thinnest smartphone.

Overall Built:
With a classy look and an amazingly light weight build (97.7 gm), the Gionee Elife S5.1 has a width of just 5.15 mm. The screen size is also adequate to be used by one hand and both the volume and the power key are situated on the left side of the smartphone. We, at HamroGSM, have given this phone a 4 out of 5 for its appearance build and performance.
Performance:
The Octa-core 1.7 GHz Cortex A-7 with 1 GB RAM provides a very swift processing speed for the smartphone. The smartphone can run a 1080p HD video without any glitches and the viewing angle is also pretty good. The shutter speed of the 8 MP rear camera of the phone is also superb and doesn't take any time to click the photos. We also did a gaming review of the phone and we found no lag during the entire game play of a high-end game. Performance wise, this phone deserves a 4.5 out of 5 .
Benchmark Test:
A score of 22,873 was scored by the Gionee Elife S5.1 in the AnTuTu benchmark test, which is very impressive in comparison to other phones of the same price range.
Overall Score:
Overall, we believe the Gionee Elife S5.1 scores a 4 out of 5 rating, for all of its right features, build and high specifications. In-spite of its down side of not having an expandable memory or a removable battery.

Samsung announces its new smartphone: Samsung Galaxy A7
This January, Samsung has announced its new smartphone, the Samsung Galaxy A7 which is said to be Samsung's slimmest phone till date (6.3 mm thin). The smartphone is expected to release within the year of 2015. Operated by a quad-core 1.5 GHz Cortex-A53 and quad-core 1.0 GHz Cortex-A53, the phone will run on an Android O.S, v4.4.x (Kitkat). The phone is to be powered by a non-removable Li-Ion 2600 mAh battery.
Along with a super AMOLED capacitive 5.5 inch touchscreen display and a resolution of 720x1280 pixels (~267 ppi pixel density), the Samsung Galaxy A7 has a 13 MP rear camera with LED flash and autofocus and a 5 MP front camera. The phone has a 2 GB RAM and a ROM of 16 GB which can be expanded up to 64 GB. Although Samsung Galaxy A7 has its specifications much similar to the Samsung Galaxy S5, the release of this new smartphone of Samsung is much awaited. Samsung's second slimmest smartphone till date, the Samsung Galaxy A5 was unveiled in Nepal on 4th of February, 2015 by Samsung Nepal at the price of NPR.36,700. The smartphone is 6.7mm thin and has a value for price for its features, specifications and stylish metallic look.
Operating on an Android OS, v4.4.4(KitKat), the Samsung Galaxy A5 is best known for its processing speed and uses a Qualcomm MSM8915 Snapdragon 410 as its chipset. It runs on a quad-core 1.2 GHz Cortex-A53 processor and comes with 16 GB of ROM (expandable upto 64 GB) and 2 GB of RAM. Furthermore, talking about its display, the smartphone has a super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen of 5 inches and a resolution of 720x1280 pixels (~294 pixel density). It also has two sets of camera, a 13 MP rear camera and a 5 MP front camera. Also, claimed by Samsung themselves, the phone has been optimized for social networking.

Micromax Canvas Fire Series : A093
The Micromax A093 Canvas Fire was released in the July of 2014 by Micromax as a part of the Micromax Canvas Fire Series and is available in the stores of Nepal at Rs. 10,175. A quad-core 1.3 GHz processor is used as its CPU and it runs on an Android O.S v4.4.2 (Kitkat). The phone is powered by a Li-Ion 1750 mAh battery and has a stand-by time of up to 210 hours.
With a 4 inch WVGA display of 480x800 pixels resolution (~233 pixel density), the Micromax A093 Canvas Fire comes with dual front stereo speakers. A 5 MP rear camera with flash and a 0.3 MP front camera is on the phone and it has an internal memory of 4 GB which can be expanded up to 32 GB. However, the phone only has 512 MB of RAM and two SIMs can be inserted in it- mini and micro.

Lava Iris Selfie 50 - Now released in Nepal!
The Lava Iris Selfie 50 has been released in Nepal at the price of Rs.14,999. The smartphone has a capacitive touch-screen display of 5 inches and runs on an Android O.S version 4.4.2. With a screen resolution of 720 x 1280, this smartphone packs in a solid 293 PPI pixel density given its screen size. Powered by a removable Li-Po 2400 mAh battery, it gives a standby time of up to 240 hours.
With a 5-megapixel front camera, the Lava Iris Selfie 50 hasn't quite been able to live up to its name. The phone also has an 8-megapixel rear camera with flash. The phone runs on a 1.2 GHz quad-core processor with 1 GB RAM and an internal memory of 8 GB which is expandable up to 32 GB. Two SIM cards can be used in the smartphone - micro and regular.

Huawei Honor 6 Plus - Huawei's latest flagship smartphone
Huawei Honor 6 Plus was released on the December of 2014 as a successor of Huawei Honor 6. The smartphone has a beautiful design with metallic frame. It has a display screen of 5.5 inches and a high-definition resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels. It runs on its own user interface, the EMUI 3.0 . Honor 6 plus is powered by a non-removable 3600mAh battery and has a RAM of 3 GB with quad-core Cortex-A15 and quad-core Cortex-A7 as its CPU .
The smartphone's features a dual primary camera of 8 MP which work on stereo triangulation principle because of which both lenses work simultaneously to achieve a rapid focus of the object. It also has a secondary camera on the front of 8 MP. Huawei Honor 6 Plus comes with a memory of 32 GB which can be expanded upto 128 GB. The phone costs $323 in the international market but is yet to be released in Nepal.
A possibility : Smartphone internal memory in Terabytes
Many people buy a smartphone primarily for its easy storage and usage of data and information which make their life more simpler. Now-a-days, most of the smartphones have a memory of below 64 GB which is proving to be insufficient to the common smartphone users. But now according to CNN, due to some advances in memory design and construction, the internal memory of a smartphone may be expanded in a big way.
A team led by chemist James Tour of Rice University has developed a breakthrough in Resistive Random-Access Memory (RRAM) technology. RRAM is much faster than a flash memory and doesn't need continous power. Another main feature of RRAM is that it uses silicon oxide which is one of the most studied and abundant substance on Earth and can be manafactured at room temperature. Thus, by the use of this new technology, a smartphone can have built-in storage of approximately 1 Terabyte.
